Construction

Willamette West Habitat for Humanity offers opportunities for you to help with all aspects of home building. You don't need to be an expert in construction to help out on a work site. There are many tasks that require only a willingness to learn and work with others. On-site construction work is the most popular of Habitat's volunteer opportunities. We make every effort to incorporate all willing volunteers regardless of skill level. We work rain or shine!

Age Policy
Because we are a construction site, safety is our #1 concern. Our insurance requires that we restrict the activities of volunteers under the age of 18. Below are the highlights of our age policy. More details are given in the online orientation.

• Under 14: Not allowed on work site while construction is in progress.
• 14 - 15: Can do limited work, such as landscaping and painting, if that type of work is available. Groups of volunteers in this age range must provide at least one adult supervisor for every two youth volunteers.
• 16 - 17: Can participate in construction work, but cannot use power tools, do excavation or demolition, or work on rooftops. Groups of volunteers in this age range must provide at least one adult supervisor for every four youth volunteers.
• 18+: No restrictions.
