Willamette West Habitat for Humanity builds homes in Washington County, Oregon. If you are interested in buying a Habitat home elsewhere, you will need to contact the Habitat affiliate in your area.  Other Oregon Habitat affiliates are listed at the Habitat for Humanity of Oregon website.  If you are not in Oregon, you can use Habitat for Humanity International's affiliate search engine.

WWHFH SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. NEED: You will be considered for a Habitat home if your present housing is not adequate, and if you are unable to obtain adequate housing through other conventional means.  Lack of adequate housing may include problems with the present structure; water, electrical or sewage service systems; heating system, or failure to meet city property maintenance standards.  Also taken into consideration are the number, the ages and the gender of children compared to the number of bedrooms in your present home.
  2. ABILITY TO PAY A MORTGAGE: Habitat homes are sold at cost with a 0%-interest mortgage.  You will be required to openly and fully discuss your financial situation with Habitat personnel. You and your family will be considered if your annual gross income is between 30-50% of the median income for Washington County.
  3. WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER WITH HABITAT: You and your family must be willing to work in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.  We require 500 hours of sweat equity.  Sweat equity is volunteer time spent building your home and the homes of your neighbors.

If you meet these criteria, you should attend a Homeowner Application meeting to find out more about our program and receive a housing application. Attendance at a Homeowner Application Meeting is mandatory to begin the application process.

We expect to have the next round of Homeowner Application Meetings in Spring 2008.  The meetings have not been scheduled yet.  If you would like be notified when these meetings are scheduled, please complete the Interest Form online or call our office at (503) 844-7606 and provide your name and address. We will mail out information as soon as the next round of meetings are scheduled.
